Returning Shoplifters
If a shoplifter enters your boutique who has previously stolen from a Chanel location, you have the right to refuse entry. Please follow the guidelines outlined below when faced with this situation:
• All shoplifters who have stolen from a Chanel location are automatically banned from ALL Chanel stores.
• If you believe a shoplifter is in your store inform your security officers & management immediately. If you are unsure please refer to completed incident reports of past thefts or broadcast emails sent from London Security Team / London boutiques.
• Once confirming a positive I.D, approach the shoplifter stating to them, ‘Excuse me Sir/Madam, may I please ask that you exit the boutique immediately as we have proof that you have stolen from this store / another store on ………………(date)’. If they begin to question your request, repeat the statement stating, ‘please exit the boutique immediately or the police will be contacted’.
• Security officers should carry out this procedure. If management are carrying out this dialogue then they must have security officer present.
• Confidence is key and a firm approach is essential.
• Staff and customer health and safety is the main priority. If you suspect any escalation of the situation, do not hesitate to dial 999 immediately informing them of the situation.
Inform the London Security Team / Security Management of the situation so that follow up action can be conducted and logged.
