CODE OF CONDUCT

This Code outlines the standards of conduct expected of every Security Officer during their deployment/employment with VIGILO Solutions Ltd (“the Company”), including those new guards whilst working during their preliminary screening.

Representation of the Client
Security Officers shall recognise at all times that they represent the client and must do so in a calm, professional and courteous manner.

Appearance and Conduct
All Security Officers are required to maintain proper standards of appearance and behaviour while on duty.

General Conduct
All Security Officers shall

  • Complete assigned tasks promptly and diligently, unless there is due and sufficient cause not to.
  • Remain at their place of work unless permission to leave is given or there is sufficient cause.
  • Be polite, courteous and well-mannered while on assignment, refraining from inappropriate behaviour such as making rude noises or yawning in the presence of staff or the public.
  • Ensure that all oral and written statements are true and accurate.
  • Handle all documents with care, ensuring that alterations, disposal or erasure are carried out only with proper authorisation.
  • Maintain confidentiality on any matter relating to the employer or clients, past or present.
  • Uphold a high level of personal integrity, especially when handling keys, money or property connected with the employer’s business.
  • Extend courtesy to all individuals encountered during work and exercise authority only as required by the employer’s business.
  • Avoid any actions that could bring discredit to the employer, client or fellow employees.
  • Use the employer’s equipment or facilities only with proper authorisation.
  • Not fraternise with customers, friends or relatives while on duty.
  • Never abuse their position of authority and immediately report any incident or police involvement that may affect their continued employment as a door supervisor.
  • Wear their SIA licence prominently on the outside of their clothing.
  • Refuse entry to individuals whose presence may render the designated premises supervisor liable to prosecution.
  • Obtain consent in front of a witness before conducting a personal search, when searches are required as a condition of entry.
  • Not search individuals of the opposite sex and ensure that any seized items are handled in accordance with the premises or event policy.
  • Maintain order on the premises or at the event, ensuring public safety and being aware of fire and emergency equipment and evacuation procedures.
  • Use tact and diplomacy as the first method to manage conflict.
  • Use only the minimum necessary force if tact and diplomacy are unsuccessful.
  • Act fairly and without unlawful discrimination on the basis of colour, race, religion, disability or any other protected characteristic, and be prepared to justify all actions.
  • Cooperate fully with emergency services and ensure they are not obstructed in the performance of their duties.
  • Be familiar with procedures for alerting management and the public in emergencies, taking immediate and appropriate action.
